A decade ago, he started seeing swelling behind both his ears then it slowly spread around his throat area. Over time, the fatty deposits took over his whole neck, leading him to be called the man with the 'horse's neck'.
This caused him to become depressed and withdrawn. He also experienced difficulty in eating, breathing and sleeping.
According to the doctors, the swelling around his throat was around 16 cm wide and 14 centimeters long. Added to that are two lumps which totals to 18 centimeters wide.
After a series of tests, Shu underwent three successive surgeries to remove the fatty deposits. Today, People's Daily Online said he is due to return home after he recuperates.
Baijiu is a distilled spirit made from rice, sorghum or other grains, and has an alcohol by volume of anywhere between 40 and 60 percent.
